Student Services Focus Areas

Academic Advising

Our academic advisors are the principal academic resource for students at GW Nursing. Interactions are centered on student learning outcomes designed to encourage the student’s self-efficacy and development of meaningful educational and professional goals. While students are responsible for determining their schedule and meeting all degree requirements, academic advisors are here to guide students through the entire degree. Academic Success Coaches, Dr. Billy Mullins and Dr. Adriana Glenn, collaborate with the academic advisors to oversee students' success initiatives and coordinate efforts to optimize student success.

Student Engagement

Student engagement provides opportunities that inspire nursing students to make the most of their GW experience and help students learn how they can be involved in GW community and beyond. The student program administrator plans and executes all student engagement initiatives and programs including civic engagement and interactive activities as well as student services events such as orientation, white coat ceremony, pinning, commencement, etc.

Academic Enhancement (Testing and Tutoring)

The office of student services provides test proctoring services (for students who have approved DSS accommodations) and peer tutoring services (for students who are interested in developing and improving their study skills and learning strategies). Peer tutoring is facilitated by fellow nursing students who have excelled in their coursework. To become a peer tutor, please contact Dr. Stanley Ebede, director of student services. Please note that first semester students are not eligible to serve as peer tutors.
