Sponsor a Student: Send a Stethoscope to Uganda

For the past two years, Dr. Karen Dawn and a group of GW BSN Nursing students have been coming to Mukono, Uganda and training community health workers in how to measure blood pressure. Not only have the community health workers retained their newfound skills, Dr. Dawn and the students have taken their efforts one step further by developing a clinical trial with Makerere University School of Public Health in which the community health workers refer patients to health centers and teach patients how to reduce their blood pressure through dietary and lifestyle modifications.

Many of the community health workers lack basic medical equipment to conduct proper medical screenings, however, and have previously relied upon donated blood pressure cuffs to conduct screenings. Please help us by sponsoring a blood pressure cuff and stethoscope set for $25. Our aim is to reach our goal of 100 sets for the students to donate to Ugandan health clinics during their October mission.
