What inspired you to become an academic advisor?
I enjoyed mentorship in previous university roles as a student; it really helped me feel like I was doing meaningful work! After working in politics for a year, I knew it wasn't something I wanted to do forever, so I decided to return to a role that let me work with students in a more impactful way.

What advice do you find yourself giving most often?
Connect with your faculty/faculty mentor. I love that students come to see me, but they often forget to loop in or speak with their professors when they're struggling. Speaking to their instructors seems to go a long way!

What’s one fun fact about you that students might not guess?
I do ballet in my spare time! I'm also a huge gamer and love nothing more than to spend my Saturday playing an RPG.

What’s your favorite quote or piece of advice you live by?
"It's a bad day, not a bad life."

What’s your favorite hobby or way to relax outside of work?
I love to bake outside of work! I started doing it more recently, last spring, and it's become a favorite pastime of mine!

What’s your favorite place on campus?
On VSTC: my office--relaxing music, cozy decor, + relaxing coloring books. Doesn't get any better than that.

What’s your favorite lunch spot near campus?
Panera--we get it at almost every event, but something about a turkey bacon bravo and a tomato soup that really helps during hectic days.

What’s a resource on campus you wish more students took advantage of?
The career center — students assume they're good because nursing is in high demand, but if they choose to explore other opportunities, the career center is super helpful!
