The MedStar Washington Hospital Center (MWHC) and GW School of Nursing partner to offer Washington Squared (W2), an innovative collaboration that fosters continued advancement in health care.

MWHC is a hospital with nearly 1,000 beds and is part of a non-profit healthcare system that includes 10 hospitals, over 30,000 associates, numerous specialty and primary care clinics, as well as home care. Recognized as a dynamic hospital, MWHC has a strong focus on research and a commitment to providing high-quality care in which nurses are valued as an integral part of the team.

 

Program Overview


The W2 program offers tuition support to Accelerated BSN (ABSN) students and the promise of employment and professional growth at MedStar Washington Hospital Center (MWHC). The competitive scholarship/loan repayment provided by the program offers the following to eligible BSN students:

for 36 months to successful graduates
in good standings of the BSN program

Guaranteed employment commitment
for 24 months to successful graduates
in good standing of the BSN program

Clinical Rotation Fulfillment at MWHC


 

Program Requirements


GW School of Nursing requires that students interested in W2 complete the school’s regular admission process and submit a separate application for W2. Applicants must also meet the following requirements:

  • Must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident
  • Cumulative GPA: 3.0 or higher
  • Prerequisite GPA: 3.0 or higher

Select students will be invited for a mandatory interview with MWHC. MWHC has discretion in selecting W2 participants and clinical placement.

Upon acceptance into the program, students agree to fulfill either a 24-month or 36-month, full-time work commitment at MWHC post-graduation where they will receive a competitive salary and opportunities for professional development and growth as a new RN.
