Policy Statement
The purpose of this policy is to provide information regarding the scheduling of courses, events, and activities in the SAIL center and to define priority of use for space.
Reason for Policy
The rationale for the policy is to set a standard for scheduling and prioritization of use when a conflict for space arises.
Who is Governed by this Policy

Policy
The GWU SON SAIL Center is committed to the education of nursing students. Priority is given to all courses that are a part of the graduate or undergraduate curriculum. Courses receive priority for scheduling of all curricular activities to include simulation scenarios, OSCE, and skills lab. All outside events will be scheduled based on availability of simulation space and assurance that it does not interfere with curricular activities.
All courses and events held in the GWU SON SAIL Center will be approved by the Director of Simulation and Experiential Learning and/or the Assistant Director of Simulation or designated decision maker. Simulation courses are scheduled and planned in collaboration with the Director of Simulation and Experiential learning and the Academic Affairs Manager to ensure that there are no conflicts between classes and cohorts for required courses.
In the event that there is a conflict between graduate and undergraduate curricular simulation activities, the director of simulation will work with the course/program coordinators to develop an alternative plan to meet the needs of the course/program and support the student learning needs.
