GW SON SAIL Center Confidentiality Policy
Policy Statement
All Simulation and Innovation Learning Center (SAIL) users, learners, and observers must sign the “GWU SON SAIL Agreement” prior to participating in any simulation, in order to maintain the safety and integrity of the learning experience for all participants.
Reason for Policy
The purpose of this confidentiality policy is to safeguard those that participate in any aspect of simulation-based experiences. Simulation lab and scenarios are designed to provide a safe environment in which to learn. Failure to maintain confidentiality may result in unwarranted and unfair defamation of character of the participants and may cause irreparable harm to all users, as well as impair the effectiveness of simulation-based learning.
Any participant in the GWU SON SAIL that will be participating in simulation must agree to maintain and protect privacy of information and display professional and ethical conduct at all times. Any unauthorized release, inappropriate exchange or mishandling of confidential information is a violation of this policy.
This requirement of confidentiality does not apply to faculty and staff working directly with case content (and training of standardized patients) for the purpose of creating, revising or otherwise preparing content for formative encounters or student examinations.
All data collected will adhere to the guidelines of University Records Management Policy and data management (IT policy just approved by GWU SON Policy Committee). (Cross reference this paragraph with the assessment and evaluation data policy)
