We encourage our students, faculty and staff to focus on their natural talents and refine them into strengths. Unlike the status quo practice of focusing on weaknesses, research shows that people become much more engaged and create strong teams when they are encouraged to focus on their strengths. At GW Nursing, we offer the Clifton StrengthsFinder® to students and employees, providing them with the knowledge and vocabulary to describe how they may excel.
As you look throughout our website, you can easily discover each of our faculty and staff's strengths on their individual profiles. Feel free to view them and find an individual with the strengths you may need for your team or projects.

Using the CliftonStrengths model, each individual is provided with their own unique combination of 34 themes broken down into their top five strengths. These strengths are further refined into four domains to better understand how they can leverage them as individuals, in teams and see the bigger picture to accomplish their goals.
The Four Domains
- Executing Themes
These nine themes focus on getting things done, with speed, precision, and accuracy. Putting ideas into action is the strengths of this domain.
The Executing Themes
- Influencing Themes
These eight themes enable individuals or groups to sell ideas and serve as your ambassadors.
The Influencing Themes
- Relationship Building Themes
These nine themes have an innate ability to take the human factor into account. They bring the group together around a cause, idea or each other.
The Relationship Building Themes
- Strategic Thinking Themes
These are your critical thinkers and problem-solvers. They see the big picture and how to move forward.
